Resortwear. It’s a funny concept in the northern hemisphere where the collections that were shown at the height of summer only hit stores… in the depths of winter. So it pays then, to be a so-called season behind, just so we can take advantage of the new racks of clothes and our climate finally aligning. And since we’re this close to clocking off and heading on our collective holidays, we couldn’t help but get inspired by the concept (and pieces) of the resort collections. Pieces that not only look the part – but serve a sartorial purpose, too. Think flowing wide-leg trousers that provide plenty of breeze mid-stride (should you find yourself stranded somewhere humid), silken slips that easily straddle that tricky day-to-night continuum, and leather sandals and satchel bags that let you explore your surroundings with ease. And stylishly so, because; really, would you ever do it with anything less? D
